More than likely draining the fuel first, would be wise.Good luck. The tank has a strainer on the bottom. It would make sense to remove the tank, drain it , clean the strainer then swap your pump. That way the line should be clear of any debris, and you will get full flow from tank to the pump.

To clean/check it you have to remove the 2 bolts holding the petcock on the bottom of the fuel tank .. The fuel strainer on a TRX500 Foreman is inside the (brass) fuel hose pipe on the carb.
